As far back as I can remember I wanted to be in the kitchen. Growing up with first generation foreign grandparents (Swedish grandmother and French Canadian grandfather) I was always welcome and encouraged to help out by the stove. Aged 5 I created my first recipe, a chocolate torte on the back of a dark chocolate package. It was my first food art experiment I guess.
As I was learning to cook in my grandmother's kitchen I was spending the same amount of time in my grandfather's workshop - woodworking, learning about metals and general craftsmanship. I have always been tactile and needed to keep my hands busy creating. This gave me a great foundation for becoming an artist much later in life.
